Designing Shoes for 3D Printing

Designing Shoes for 3D Printing

In this talk Jaren will share his workflow for designing footwear using Blender and Gravity Sketch, with a focus on creating models intended for 3D printing. Jaren Dorman will walk through his personal process from early concept exploration in VR to refining forms in Blender showing how digital tools can be used to rapidly develop bold, functional ideas.

Through a series of past projects and 3D printed prototypes, he will break down key lessons learned from hands-on experimentation, including what works, what fails, and how to design with additive manufacturing in mind from the start. The session will also highlight specific Blender tools and techniques tailored for footwear creation, helping bridge the gap between visual design and physical output.

The talk will conclude with insights into platforms like Zellerfeld, and how they are enabling a new wave of independent creators to design, produce, and release their own footwear globally reshaping what it means to bring a product to market.
